Overnight Camping

Corpus Christi, TX to Alamo, TX

Wednesday, October 29, 2008
The final leg of the trip was quick and easy. Here we are in Alamo, Texas just as far down south as you can get! Alamo Palms RV Resort is a very, very good place to spend the winter. The weather is warm, though very humid, and the folks are friendly.

Hondo, TX to Corpus Christi, TX

Sunday, October 26, 2008
We’ve often heard about Corpus Christi ( maybe during hurricane season?), so it was time to see it for ourselves. We checked in to Hatch RV Park, it’s showing its age (aren’t we all?), but nice enough, and started out to be tourists.

Junction, TX to Hondo, TX

Saturday, October 25, 2008
Hondo, Texas is another of the many crossroad towns in Texas. The welcome sign is very interesting.

Benson, AZ to Deming, NM

Tuesday, October 21, 2008
Continuing east on Interstate 10, we left Arizona and entered the “Land of Enchantment”, New Mexico. Lots and lots of pecan and walnut trees lined the highway. We saw a Blimp advertising Airship Ventures. That might be fun.

SOUTH TO THE LONE STAR STATE-Apache Jct, AZ to Benson, AZ

Monday, October 20, 2008
Once again, it’s “Adios” to Superstition Sunrise. We love this place but still want to find more new things in this great country. Our first stop of the day was just outside Tucson, where we met Mila and Dave Emerson. After a visit to their daughter’s home, they took us to a [...]

Pecos, TX to Junction, TX

Thursday, October 23, 2008
The Junction KOA in Junction, Texas was this day’s destination. It was another pleasant day with easy driving. Since the campground is on the bank of the North Llano River, we decided to make this a two-night stopover. The first order of business was to purchase Ed’s Texas fishing license. Yea! He’s [...]

Cottonwood, AZ to Apache Junction, AZ

Thursday, September 25, 2008
Before noon, we were back at Superstition Sunrise RV Resort where we spent last winter. In fact, since we rented the site for a year we settled on to our very own spot on Marilyn Monroe Avenue.

Williams, AZ to Cottonwood, AZ

Sunday, September 21, 2008
Last winter, while on a trip to Sedona, AZ, we found Dead Horse Ranch State Park and said we’d like to spend some time there. So we did.

Gallup, NM to Williams, AZ

Friday, September 19, 2008
Continuing on Highway 40/Old Route 66, we drove past the Petrified Forest, Winslow, and Flagstaff to Williams, Arizona. Williams exists pretty much as the Gateway to the Grand Canyon so it’s mostly hotels and restaurants.

Santa Fe, NM to Gallup, NM

Thursday, September 18, 2008
It was a warm, sunny day as we crossed the Land of Enchantment, New Mexico. Actually, the scenery was not especially exciting, with not much to see. Another time, we do want to stop at Laguna Pueblo to visit this very old place, but not today.
