LIVINGSTON, TEXAS

May, 2010
The Escapees Park in Livingston, Texas, called Rainbow’s End, is our official home. It is where our mail service is located, and the place where we have registered our vehicles. This is our third visit in seven years, but this time it’s a very special visit.

TEXAS GULF COAST

 April 17, 2010 - April 23, 2010
With final hugs from the few “Tea Timers” left at Alamo Palms, we were on our way northeast to the Texas Gulf Coast. The morning passed quickly, and soon we were eating lunch at Joe Cotten’s Barbecue in Robstown, Texas. At this unique restaurant the formally dressed waiters [...]

PECOS, TX TO BIG BEND NATIONAL PARK, TX

Friday, October 16, 2009

We started early, 6:30 a.m., this morning. It’s Friday and we didn’t know if there would be a lot of people checking in to the campground. You have to really want to be going to the National Park…you won’t get there accidentally.

TYE, TX TO PECOS, TX

Thursday, October 15, 2009
Continuing on I-20 through Midland and Odessa, past some of the sand hills at Monahans, we arrived at Tra-Park RV Park in Pecos. This is an Escapees Park and we have been here once or twice before. It’s basically a “parking lot” with all pull-through sites placed close together.

VICTORIA, TX to LIVINGSTON, TX

The day began cloudy but, brightened as we moved along. Texas flat, Texas cattle were what we looked at out the window. At the town of El Campo we detoured in for coffee and a diet Coke while we viewed several of the large murals painted on buildings. They showed the history of the [...]

ALAMO, TX TO VICTORIA, TX

It was “We’ll see you here in November”, to our friends still at Alamo Palms, and we joined the parade of RV’s headed north on the highways. The day was drizzly for the first few hours and then just cloudy. Soon enough we were at Dad’s RV Park in Victoria, TX.

Life in South Texas

Our workamping duties, every eighth day, have given us lots of time to explore the tip of Texas. There are several State Parks that are part of the World Birding Center. We’ve seen some species of birds that are found only in this part of the country, along with javelinas and armadillos. We began [...]

Day Trips in the Rio Grande Valley, 2008-2009

 MEXICO:
Alamo, Texas is our home for the winter. The nearest entry into Mexico is PROGRESSO, TX about a 30-minute drive. We made this trip four or five times, parking on the Texas side and walking across the bridge to Nuevo Progresso, Mexico.

Corpus Christi, TX to Alamo, TX

Wednesday, October 29, 2008
The final leg of the trip was quick and easy. Here we are in Alamo, Texas just as far down south as you can get! Alamo Palms RV Resort is a very, very good place to spend the winter. The weather is warm, though very humid, and the folks are friendly.

Hondo, TX to Corpus Christi, TX

Sunday, October 26, 2008
We’ve often heard about Corpus Christi ( maybe during hurricane season?), so it was time to see it for ourselves. We checked in to Hatch RV Park, it’s showing its age (aren’t we all?), but nice enough, and started out to be tourists.
