LIVINGSTON, TEXAS

May, 2010
The Escapees Park in Livingston, Texas, called Rainbow’s End, is our official home. It is where our mail service is located, and the place where we have registered our vehicles. This is our third visit in seven years, but this time it’s a very special visit.

TEXAS GULF COAST

 April 17, 2010 - April 23, 2010
With final hugs from the few “Tea Timers” left at Alamo Palms, we were on our way northeast to the Texas Gulf Coast. The morning passed quickly, and soon we were eating lunch at Joe Cotten’s Barbecue in Robstown, Texas. At this unique restaurant the formally dressed waiters [...]

DES MOINES, IA TO TRENTON, MO

Thursday, October 8, 2009
Rain accompanied us for the entire drive today, and the temperatures are falling. The first Missouri rest area sported a hillside of silhouetted bison and cowboy. We drove on Missouri rural roads to reach Crowder State Park. As we drove to the camping area we were enveloped in fall leaves from [...]

CLINTON, MI TO GRANGER, IN

Wednesday, September 30, 2009
We chose to take U.S. 12 instead of an interstate today. It’s interesting to drive alongside fields and pastures, and through small towns that advertise their champion Little League teams and their spaghetti suppers. The South Bend KOA is actually in Granger, Indiana. It’s situated perfectly for us; six miles from [...]

WASHINGTON PA TO PORT CLINTON OH

Sunday, September 27, 2009
Rain! The drive to Port Clinton, Ohio…on the banks of Lake Erie…took only a few hours but they were mostly rainy hours. Luckily, it stopped raining when we arrived at East Harbor State Park. This was another huge park with camping (with electric hookups), hiking, boat ramps, and a store. Not [...]

WINCHESTER VA TO WASHINGTON PA

Saturday, September 26, 2009

The Pennsylvania Turnpike is not our favorite road, but on a Saturday it was relatively quiet. We are beginning to see the colors of fall on the hillsides, and the temperature is a little cooler. The Washington/Pittsburgh KOA was waiting for us, down a narrow, winding back road and up a [...]

ELMER, NJ TO LAUREL, DE

Thursday, September 17, 2009

Just to have a little adventure along the way, we chose to take the Cape May, NJ/Lewes, DE Ferry across the Delaware Bay. Everything went smoothly, Ed and the 5th-wheel were the highest and longest thing aboard and were loaded on first. Carol was somewhere in the middle of the lines. [...]

GLOCESTER, RI TO MADISON, CT

Monday, September 14, 2009
Today we made a short trip to Hammonassatt Beach State Park in Madison, CT. One slight error and a left turn onto a dead end road caused a few minutes delay. A friendly young man took the time to help Ed find the best way to back out and turn around. [...]

BRATTLEBORO, VT TO STURBRIDGE, MA

Saturday, September 12, 2009
Although the distance was short, none of us was in a hurry to get up and moving, so we didn’t get to Wells State Park until mid-afternoon. We had not planned any meeting places along the way, but, sure enough we found each other at one of the turnpike plazas where [...]

CHICHESTER, NH TO BRATTLEBORO, VT

Friday, September 11, 2009

While the service guys did their work we went to breakfast, at the Circle Restaurant, and then drove around the area finding geocaches. This gave us a chance to appreciate the New England villages with fancy steeples on the churches, and great looking Colonial homes old and new. The work was [...]
